Answer
Awards, Classifications and Pay Rate Groups let you organise employees and share common pay rates across your company. Use Awards to record the award or agreement name, Pay Rate Groups to define shared classifications and rates, and then assign employees to the relevant group.
In the Desktop App
Open Company >> Pay Rate Groups to create and manage groups. Australian companies also have a Company >> Awards tab where you can record the award name; this tab is not shown for New Zealand companies, so use Pay Rate Groups directly.
- Australian companies: go to Company >> Awards and create an award or classification heading if you want one.
- Go to Company >> Pay Rate Groups and create a pay rate group for each role or grade.
- Add the pay rates that belong to that group.
- Assign employees to the group.
In the Online (Web/Mobile) App
Go to Company >> Pay Rate Groups/Classifications to create and manage groups. Australian companies also have a Company >> Awards screen; this screen is not available for New Zealand companies.
- Australian companies: go to Company >> Awards and create an award record. Classifications are then managed from the Pay Rate Groups screen.
- Go to Company >> Pay Rate Groups/Classifications and select New to create a group.
- Use Manage pay rates within this group to add the rates for that group.
- Use Manage employees within this group (or the Save Employees option) to assign employees.
Pay Rate Fields
When you add a pay rate to a group, you set the following:
- Type: choose Normal (a multiple of the employee's hourly rate) or Special (a fixed dollar amount).
- Units: enter the unit the rate is paid in, such as Hours, KMs or Buckets.
- Is Hours: tick this when the unit represents worked hours.
- Is Overtime: tick this if the rate represents overtime or another non-ordinary earning type.
To show an award or classification name on payslips without setting up shared pay rates, you can assign the award and classification directly to an employee under Employees >> Pay Settings.
