Answer
Lightning Payroll uses ISO 20022 pain.001 XML for banking uploads in NZ. ABA files are an Australian bank format and are not used for NZ direct entry.
Why the payment file is pain.001 XML
- NZ internet banking accepts ISO 20022 pain.001 XML, not ABA format.
- The file is generated with NZD currency and NZ bank account details.
- The company's payer identification details (such as Debtor Member ID and Debtor Account ID) are embedded in the XML.
Creating a banking file
Use Pays >> Direct Entry to build the original pays and wages banking file. The save step produces a pain.001 XML file ready to upload to your bank.
Regenerating a banking file
In the desktop app: Open the Regenerate ABAWizard from the Direct Entry menu, then select Recreate Pays/Wages Banking File. Choose the entry from your payments history and save the regenerated file.
In the online (web/mobile) app: Navigate to Tools >> Regenerate ABA File/s. Select the pays file you want to regenerate from your history, preview the payments, then download the new pain.001 XML file.
The regenerate flow covers pays and wages only. KiwiSaver payment files are handled separately and are not part of this direct entry workflow.
