Answer
When you open the Lightning Payroll desktop app for the first time on a computer that has no existing licence, a trial wizard appears automatically. This wizard lets you activate a free 31-day trial without leaving the application.
Steps to activate your trial
- Open Lightning Payroll. If a trial is available for your computer, the Trial License wizard opens automatically with the heading Get going with a trial!
- Enter your email address in the Please enter your email address below to start your trial: field.
- Select how you heard about Lightning Payroll from the How did you hear about us? dropdown. Options include Google, Bing, Accountant, Bookkeeper, Another User, Facebook, LinkedIn, Word of Mouth, and Other.
- Click Start Free Trial Now. This button becomes active once both fields are filled in.
- The app installs your trial licence automatically. Once complete, the wizard closes and you can begin using the software straight away.
Already a paid subscriber?
If you are an existing paid user installing Lightning Payroll on a new computer, click Enter Paid Subscription Details at the bottom of the wizard instead. This opens the licence install assistant so you can enter your subscription credentials.
If the wizard does not appear
The trial wizard only appears when no licence or prior trial has ever been installed on that computer. If you have already used a trial on the same machine, or a licence is already installed, the wizard will not show. In that case, visit lightningpayroll.com.au/download to download a fresh installer, or see the trial overview FAQ for more options.
Any data you enter during the trial is saved permanently. If you purchase a subscription before or after the 31 days expire, you continue from exactly where you left off. See also: Will I Lose The Data I've Entered When My Trial Expires?
