Answer
The employee portal includes a Tax Settings screen where you can view and update your tax details. The screen is available only when your employer has enabled this permission for your account.
If the Tax Settings tab is not visible in your portal navigation, or you see the message Tax settings are locked by your employer, contact your employer and ask them to tick Allow employee to edit their tax settings under your Online Portal settings.
To access the screen, log into the employee portal and select Tax Settings from the navigation menu.

Australian employees
The form is based on your TFN declaration. Complete the following fields and tick the confirmation checkbox before saving:
- Tax file number (TFN) ÔÇö enter your nine-digit TFN. If you do not have a TFN yet, select I don't have a TFN yet ÔÇö see my options to choose a temporary ATO-issued code.
- On what basis are you paid? ÔÇö select Full-time employment, Part-time employment, or Casual employment.
- Are you: ÔÇö select your residency status: An Australian resident for tax purposes, A foreign resident for tax purposes, or A working holiday maker. If you select working holiday maker, also choose your Home country.
- Tax free threshold claimed ÔÇö tick this for your main job so that less tax is withheld. Do not tick it for a second job.
- Deduct STSL (HELP, TSL, SFSS, etc.) ÔÇö tick this only if you have a study or training loan to repay.
- I declare this information is true and correct and I am submitting it electronically ÔÇö tick this checkbox to confirm the declaration before saving.
Your declaration is stored electronically with the date and audit details of the submission.
New Zealand employees
The form reflects your IR330 tax code declaration. Complete the following fields:
- IRD number ÔÇö enter your IRD number (not required if you select the ND code below).
- NZ tax code ÔÇö select the code that matches your situation:
- M ÔÇö Main income, standard tax rate
- ME ÔÇö Main income, eligible for Independent Earner Tax Credit (IETC)
- SB ÔÇö Secondary income, total annual income up to $14,000
- S ÔÇö Secondary income, total annual income $14,001 to $48,000
- SH ÔÇö Secondary income, total annual income $48,001 to $70,000
- ST ÔÇö Secondary income, total annual income $70,001 to $180,000
- SA ÔÇö Secondary income, total annual income over $180,000
- CAE ÔÇö Casual agricultural employee
- EDW ÔÇö Election day worker
- NSW ÔÇö Recognised seasonal worker, non-resident Pacific countries
- STC ÔÇö Special tax code, tailored rate issued by Inland Revenue
- ND ÔÇö No declaration provided
- WT ÔÇö Withholding tax
- I have a student loan ÔÇö tick this if you have a student loan so the correct repayment deduction is applied.
- I have not provided a tax code declaration ÔÇö tick this if you have not given your employer an IR330. This automatically sets the ND tax code and the IRD number field is not required.
Saving and change history
Select Save Changes after updating your details. A confirmation message appears when the save is successful. If any fields are invalid, an error message is shown instead.
A Change History section at the bottom of the page records each previous submission, including the date, source, and key values that changed. Select the heading to expand or collapse the list.
