Use the Unpaid leave type on the pay when the employee is taking an unpaid absence. The pay screen sets the rate to zero for Unpaid leave rows.
Check whether the unpaid leave affects other entitlements. A short unpaid absence may only reduce that pay. A continuous period of more than one week can affect annual holiday anniversary or AWE treatment, depending on the employer and employee agreement.
If a public holiday falls during unpaid leave, check whether it is still payable before entering a Public Holiday row.
