Answer
Open Employees >> Leave >> Leave Settings and turn on leave for the employee. This screen stores the statutory leave settings that drive annual holidays, sick leave, alternative holidays, and leave valuation.
Settings to review
- Annual holidays per year: normally 4 weeks for a full entitlement year.
- Pay annual holidays as you go: use only when the employee is genuinely eligible for 8% pay-as-you-go holiday pay.
- Pay-as-you-go holiday %: usually 8% when pay-as-you-go applies.
- Sick leave qualifying period: normally 6 months.
- Sick leave carry-over cap: normally 20 days.
- Ordinary hours per week and hours per working day: used to convert hours, days, and weeks consistently.
- Minimum wage tier: helps the pay screen check the correct minimum wage tier for the employee.
If the employee has a fixed roster, tick Manually set work pattern and select the working days. If it is unticked, Lightning Payroll derives the pattern from pay history and roster data where available.
Use Restore Defaults when you need to return the statutory fields to their standard statutory defaults, then save the employee.
