Answer
Sick leave normally becomes available after the employee has met the qualifying period, then renews on each sick leave anniversary. Lightning Payroll uses the employee's start date, sick leave anniversary, qualifying period, and carry-over cap to decide when sick leave is due.
Where to check the settings
- Leave Settings: check the sick leave qualifying period and carry-over cap.
- Leave Entitlement Adjustments: open Balance Breakdown to see the sick leave balance, accrued amount before the limit, carry-over limit applied, next sick anniversary, and grant schedule.
- Edit Pay >> Leave Balances: use How is this balance calculated? to view a similar balance breakdown while processing a pay.
Anniversary grants are materialised automatically when a pay is completed for that pay period. Use the balance breakdown to review the grant schedule before finalising the pay.
