Employees who are employed only to work on public holidays are a special case. They may still need to be paid correctly for the public holiday work, but they may not receive an Alternative Holiday for that work.
Enter the worked time using the employer's public holiday pay rate or pay item. Do not add an Alternative Holiday manual adjustment unless the day was otherwise working for the employee under the Holidays Act rules.
This commonly affects event staff, raceday staff, venue staff, and seasonal workers hired only for public holiday events. Escalate if the employment pattern is not clear.
