Answer
The web app can record a Public Holiday row and Alternative Holiday adjustments, but it cannot decide the legal facts for the employer. Before entering a public holiday leave type, confirm the date and the employee's situation.
- Check the exact national, regional anniversary, transferred, Mondayised, or Tuesdayised date that applies to the employee.
- Decide whether the day is an otherwise working day for that employee.
- If the employee worked, pay the worked time at the required public-holiday rate through the pay and record an Alternative Holiday only when one is owed.
- If the employee did not work but the public holiday is payable, enter a Public Holiday leave row for that day.
- Do not also deduct Annual Holidays, Sick, Bereavement, Family Violence, or Unpaid leave for the same payable public holiday day.
Escalate unclear on-call, ACC, closedown, Easter Sunday, public-holiday-only worker, and regional anniversary cases before changing the leave ledger.
